4 Brilliant Ways To Use Social Media

Country music’s all female trio The Pistol Annies are taking a whole new approach to releasing their new record, Annie Up. Their marketing strategy is out of the ordinary to say the least. Instead of releasing lyric videos (which is a hot new trend with singers lately) they’re utilizing nearly every social media outlet like Facebook, Foursquare, Instagram, Path, Pinterest, Tumblr, Twitter and Vine. Here’s how the Pistol Annies are generating buzz:

The band is using this platform as a way to give clues to their fans in terms of their new album and the fun concept that goes along with it. (The Pistol Annies versus a band of bad guys called The One Tones).

[success]2. Comics[/success]

This is taking an old-school art form (comic books) and pairing it with modern day sharing systems (social media) and adding interest with a story that is sure to get fans hooked.

[success]3. Facebook and Twitter[/success]

As if that weren’t enough, all of this effort has actually increased repeat viewership for the new album’s adventure themed website by 20%!

[success]4. Pinterest[/success]

Generating views and pins on Pinterest has been a great strategy for the band and gives fans the opportunity to really read the lyrics, understand them, and make a connection with them all before ever hearing the songs.

Brilliant idea fo r musicians. I think the concept can be adapted quite easily for so many different projects or companies, as well. I’d love for all the Indie bands in my hometown of Seattle to hold a contest for creating graphics for their songs – then feature the winner on their websites.

Ah, the new country. I love it when down-home country folks show that they are a whole lot smarter than you think they are. Sweet as pie, but slice right through the layers and end up on top. Go Twitter, and Go Country!
